Named for the mill town they represent and the original music they write and perform, The Millwrites features Roy McBee Smith Jr. on lead guitar and vocals, Scott Scheel on acoustic guitar and vocals, John Moseley on bass and Brandon Kimbrell on drums.
Lead guitar, vocals, songwriter
Roy, a singer-songwriter, plays electric and acoustic guitar for the Millwrites. He has been playing either solo shows, blue grass, rock, etc. for years. Influenced by the '60s and '70s, he brings a blues & rhythm to our unique blend of music genres. He classifies himself as a picker/lead guitarist and his songs are as varied as his style. Influences are from SRV, Hendrix, Neil Young, etc.
Rhythm Guitar, vocals, songwriter
Scott is a singer-songwriter that plays acoustic, rhythm guitar for the Millwrites. Influenced by ’80s and 90’s Classic and Alternative Rock, Scott now loves an eclectic mix of musical genres. He classifies himself as a strummer, and the music he writes is “Beer drinking music”.
John has been playing bass for many years and studied bass performance at University of South Carolina. He's played for many different types of bands in South Carolina of all genres including indie, punk, alternative, country, and rock.
Drums and percussion
Brandon brings an exciting rhythm to the band as the drummer. He has been able to adapt to our playing styles and has enhanced the band's sound tremendously.
